GNOME 3.0 in March 2011

It’s 3 AM, GUADEC is big fun as usual, I’m in the hotel lobby, and as I have only seen one summary blogpost on planet.gnome.org yet I’d like to mention that GNOME 3.0 will be released in March 2011.

Good night.

A good decision, I think. I’ve been watching the last few 2.31 releases, and thinking that getting the gtk 2.x to 3.x migration completed for a September release looked most unlikely, never mind things like Shell and dconf.

So, what’s the plan for all the modules that have already switched to 3.x? Is 2.32 going to be purely 2.x, requiring packages to switch back to 2.x temporarily, or build under both? Or will it be a hybrid, as is the case with the current dev releases?
