One additional point I want to make that is unclear from your post is this: Code is not the only type of valuable contribution to a project. I'm going to assume you were using "code" as a proxy for all kinds of contributions, such as docs, artwork, and so on. BTW, would you recommend the AOC blog? What have you gotten out of it?
