Recital preparation
September 18, 2000 General Comments OffI had a viola lesson today with Ralph Fielding, a violist from the L.A. Philharmonic and teacher at USC. I try to get a lesson with him every chance I get. We worked on bow arm and sound production mostly, and a little bit on some left hand technique. It was cool. Ralph is one of the coolest teachers I’ve played for, I think. He’s really energetic, very articulate, and he seems to really love teaching and seeing students progress.
I’ve been working fiendishly on preparing my music for my October recital. The program consists of the Bach c minor prelude, Schubert’s “Arpeggione” Sonata, and Hindemith’s “Der Scwanendreher” concerto. Not surprisingly, the Hindemith is pretty difficult.
I’m planning to broadcast this October recital live on Internet using all Free Software. I’ve fooled around a little bit with Icecast so far. Seth Herring, one of the cool guys over at Eazel, has offered to let me use his server at Stanford for broadcasting. I’ll update my diary with more stuff about the recital.
