Everyone seems to be jumping in miguel in regards to the recent article on The Register. I have noticed some shady reporting practices by them in the past, and I don’t doubt for a second that they are totally quoting him out of context here. It sounds like Miguel is just saying what he would like to see, rather than saying “this is the way it’s going to be, kids!”

I’m not sure what my opinion is yet. I’m thinking that rather than trying to clone .NET entirely, Gnome could take the basic idea of the language independence and then develop its own toolkits based upon it. That way we’re not always playing catch-up to Microsoft, and in a some cases we might come up with something better than what they do.
