And the name is…

Hello you all! Thanks for comments on my previous post. I’m a very encouraged artist now. 🙂

I’ve selected the best name for the Simon clone: Garfunkel. Thanks to Christian Sasso, who suggested the name. Do you like it?

For those who wants the SVG, checkout it from the gnome-edu module at GNOME Subversion repository.

I’m working (slowly, because I have not many time) on the code and I’ll release it as soon as possible.

Dear Masters of the Coding Art,

What is the best way to draw the SVG (please keep in mind I’m writing a game) into the widget? Using LibRSVG and GdkPixbuf (as in Monkey-Bubble) or using rsvg_handle_render_cairo? Thanks for your very welcome help.

  1. Use rsvg handle render cairo rather than rsvg->pixbuf, its faster and *I think* it’ll be higher quality, if you perform even the slightest transforms (scaling etc…)

  2. Just like every other clever name for an application ever, it’s bad because it gives you no idea what the heck the application does. Well, unless you’re really good at cryptic puzzles, maybe. Of course, this never stops anyone else (excuse me while I check my email in ‘Evolution’ and chat to a friend with ‘Ekiga’…), so by all means go ahead 🙂

  3. I do agree with Adam … What’s a singer name for an educative game !
Really you could have find better names, even for example genius translated in another language than English .. what about esperanto ?
On top of that, how cn you fear about legal issues with a common name like Genius, and don’t even fear about legal issues using a know people name ?!

  4. I think that using Cairo will serve you better overall. If nothing else, it will let you do other fancy Cairo things more easily.

  5. @Rich D.

Please, tell me if you’re considering that I am copying your work, because I can change the design if it became to be a problem.

    Best regards.

  6. Thanks for the SVG 🙂

Do you have a version with the beautiful colored buttons as well?
