  • In Clocks Eslam Mostafa added support for reading and writing alarms to a ICS file.
  • Marta Maria Casetti added comboboxes and toolbars pages and samples to gnome-devel-docs python tutorials.
  • Jasper St. Pierre added a filter entry to the language page of gnome-initial-setup.
  • Maxime Nicco implemented conversion between RVBA and HSVBA float to babl.
  • In libsoup Dan Winship fixed the handling of timed-out SoupRequests in SoupSessionAsync.
  • Sebastian Dröge ported sound-juicer to GStreamer 1.0 and changed the CD playback feature to use the playbin element.
  • In evolution Dan Vrátil added a ‘Format as’ submenu to the preview pane context menu, that can be used to highlight source code. (GNOME bug 680026)
  • Matas Brazdeikis added UI testing to Pitivi, using Dogtail.
  • Xavier Claessens added optional support for Ubuntu Online Accounts to Empathy.
  • Felix Riemann added an application menu to eog (GNOME bug 674938).
  • Matthias Clasen added an example for handling app menu fallback to the set of GTK+ examples.
  • In gnome-control-center Richard Hughes merged his rework of the WiFi part of the network panel.
  • Paolo Borelli added ‘recent files’ support to baobab, making scanned directories are now listed on the “home page”.

This week… 2112 commits, in 216 projects, by 243 happy hackers (and 431 were translation commits).

  • The Hamster project got separated in client and d-bus service, and got a command line client (GNOME bug 602642).
  • Behdad Esfahbod pushed a gnome-terminal branch with a find dialog to highlight search terms. (GNOME bug 78963).
  • Much work happened in the asm-support branch of nemiver.
  • This was the week of the gsettings hackfest, many changes landed in both glib and gconf modules, you should read the day 1 summary by Vincent Untz and overall summary by Matthias Clasen.
  • During that hackfest baobab (in gnome-utils) has also been ported to gsettings, with explanative commit messages, and the devhelp branch has been updated for the API changes.
  • There was also a GNOME Python hackfest and much work happened in pygobject and pygi, go read posts written by John Palmieri: day 0, day 1, day 2, and wrapup.
  • Tadej Borovšak ported sound juicer to GtkBuilder, this was the last module using libglade, yeah.
  • Torsten Schönfeld started adding GIO support to the Perl binding, via gobject-introspection.
  • Support for application-indicators/StatusNotifierIcon has been added to the typing break applet in gnome-control-center (GNOME bug 606671)
  • Evolution got a new foocanvas branch, getting rid of libgnomecanvas.
  • A new SSH Hosts plugin written by Fabian Carlström has been added to kupfer.
  • Joanmarie Diggs added improved support for Empathy in orca. (GNOME bug 589925)

This week… 1245 commits, in 160 projects, by 183 happy hackers (and 277 were translation commits).

  • The 3.0 platform cleaning plan was announced and already beared a lot of results : baobab, hamster-applet, gcalctool and glchess got ported to GtkBuilder; brasero, the toolbar editor in libegg and yelp got rid of their glib and GTK+ deprecated symbols; gnome-mag migrated to gio/gvfs; and eog incorporated all it needef rom libart_lgpl, thus removing its dependency (GNOME bug 577940, GNOME bug 578219, GNOME bug 571868, GNOME bug 578304, GNOME bug 517732, GNOME bug 573023, GNOME bug 556808 and GNOME bug 556807, at least).
  • Also Matthew Barnes killed the deprecated html-editor component from gtkhtml2, getting rid of bonobo (GNOME bug 571743).
  • Several gnome-games (aisleriot, gnibbles, mahjongg, and iagno) were updated to use g_timeout_add_seconds where sensible. (GNOME bug 564202).
  • Vincent Untz improved his gnome-session patch, and commited the fix so that reboot and shutdown also leave the session properly, by letting apps exist before doing the real reboot/shutdown.
  • The GVFS FTP backend saw several fixes (including GNOME bug 520399, GNOME bug 573349).
  • Ignacio Casal Quinteiro added source code completion to GtkSourceView.
  • pygtk was changed to use numpy instead of Numeric, that was no longer maintained (GNOME bug 387544).
  • Empathy added a new presence selector widget, that incorporates a text field for quick setting of custom messages (GNOME bug 569449).

This week… 1938 commits, in 197 projects, by 203 happy hackers (and 378 were translation commits).

The libgnome-removal quest continues this week with Thomas H.P. Andersen nailing it down in several games (gnometris, gnotravex, gnotski and iagno) and Cosima Cecchi killing it off baobab. While at it Thomas also updated gnometris from gnome-vfs to gio; and speaking of games Jason Clinton and Christian Persh hacked on the new Clutter-based aisleriot. GDM gained back real automatic and timed login. Gnome Power Manager switched to use libcanberra and the sound theme rather than shipping its own sounds and directly using GStreamer. On the translators front, Djihed Afifi commited lots of updates from the Arabic team and Stéphane Raimbault and Claude Paroz started hacking on a Django-based port of Damned Lies, the site that offers l10n.gnome.org.
