Every year brave players from the 5 continents gather together to define who’s the best in the deadliest sport there is: soccer.

While in its already various years of existence the FreeFA cup haven’t yet taken any victim, we still like to think it’s quite dangerous and brave to play.

If you would like to become part of history books and be admired for generations yet to come, sign up now in the GCDS wiki (registration required on the main page).

Pack up your shinpads and football shoes, plus one or two colours of shirts you can sweat confidently.

Teams and time will be sorted while on the island.

Join the membership committee

If you are a GNOME Foundation member and want to learn some ninja skills and get free beers at GUADEC, consider joining the membership committee.
That good guy named Bruno (I’ve heard he lives in Brasil) made a call for volunteers just today.

If learning secret arts nor free beer gets you excited, you should know what the MC does: accepting new members, setting up elections (as in infra, not something else) and like every other GNOME team: just being cool. It’s a great way to get to know lots of new contributors to the project. See Bruno’s post for more info on this.

Don’t be afraid to participate, Bruno is completely inoffensive as you can see:

I’m really happy and proud to say that I’m now part of the GNOME Foundation Board of Directors. .

I can only say that I’ll do my best, although I have to confess that I will be shameless in taking over the control of the Foundation together with Lucas in favour of our beloved Latin América.

Involucrate+GNOME: press release

This March 7th and 8th, as part of the involucrate.org project, Lima will host an international FLOSS event that for the first time gets together the real actors of its development.

involucrate+GNOME is the name of this event, and despite the name makes the topic clear, there will be participation of diverse other FLOSS projects.

Thanks to the support by the GNOME Foundation and our generous sponsors, this time we’ll have the presense of developers from GNOME (Chile, Colombia), Dokeos from Belgium and peruvians from projects like Debian, Ubuntu, PHP, FreeBSD, GNOME, among others.

The website has more details about the schedule and the speakers, whom will be eager to share their experience and knowledge about this wonderful experience of contributing to FLOSS. There will be time for BoFs and hack sessions.

The event will have Facultad de Ingenieria de Sistemas, Computo y Telecomunicaciones de la Universidad Inca Garcilaso de la Vega (Lima – Perú) as its venue.

Participation is free of charge, as long as you register yourself. We are waiting for you!
