gossip-voip and the n800

Today, after some hard work, I managed to get up early in the morning (yay!).

I remembered I had put telepathy-voip on my to-test list so I decided to make a good use of the morning checking out Raphael’s gossip-voip branch. Some folks in #telepathy pointed me to bug #414397, there I found a big patch containing the voip bits for gossip.
The problem with this patch was that being one month old it didn’t apply anymore, so I tried (and succeeded) updating it.
The result is attached to the bug, in case you are thinking about trying to build telepathy-voip magic, maybe you can use these tips:

sudo
checkinstall -D(for .deb) --nodocs --pkgversion `date +%Y%m%d`
is your friend, but if whatever you are installing uses gconf your package won’t work because of a shared-files chaos (tips wanted)

This Tapioca wiki page gives you a good general idea of the process. I used the ./configure parameters listed there and I had no problem.

If you build gst-plugins-farsight you might run into an undeclared stuff problem, to fix it (or at least what I did) you have to:

edit
gst/rtpjitterbuffer/gstrtpjitterbuffer-marshal.h
and
s/_marshal_BOXED__UINT/gstrtpjitterbuffer_marshal_BOXED__UINT

edit gst/rtpjitterbuffer/gstrtpjitterbuffer-marshal.c
and
s/_marshal_BOXED__UINT/gstrtpjitterbuffer_marshal_BOXED__UINT

autoreconf -fi
everything that comes from a darcs repo or you’ll be wondering why there are no Makefile.in files

If you apply the voip patch to gossip remember to do ./autogen.sh

If you want to try out gossip-voip calls or just want to talk, you can find me on jabber/gtalk:
dieguito-at-google's-jabber-service-dot-point-com
