We got a bit delayed, but it’s happened at last. The PiTiVi team is proud to announce the first 0.13 pre-release.

For those using Jaunty, we’ve also made pitivi (and all required dependencies) available on the gstreamer-developers PPA: https://launchpad.net/~gstreamer-developers/+archive/ppa

Unless blockers popup, expect the 0.13.1 release next monday (25th May).
Update : I didn’t put the details of the changes since summarizing 700+ commits is not trivial. The release will have more details, but to summarize : back-end rewritten, multi-layer editing, speed improvements and awesomeness 🙂
Next time can you include the “Whats cool and changed in this release” blurb?

What about Fedora 11?
Are the required dependencies ( newer gnonlin ,gstreamer etc ) scheduled to be released along with F11?
great job. I know it’s only pre-release but fedora/centos/rhel support would be great as that is where the creative audience resides for linux (sorry unbongo users). Propietary software packages all only support rpm based platforms including SUSE and Novell. As a maya and softimage user who pays for support, I would love to see an rpm of this and the dependencies, I had to compile gstreamer to get it going here 🙂

The screenshot on the main page of the pitivi wiki shows an empty page when clicked. It does the same thing in the screenshots section, but all the other screenshots work properly, except for this newest one. (Ok, this is not the best place to leave a bug report for a wiki, but it seems I would have needed to create an account just to comment on this one, so I didn’t have time for that today…)
nice! pitivi makes a great first impression. On first glance, it looks very clean, yet has sensible (already) options for e.g. project size, etc. It also feels very stable, impressive for a prerelease.

Instant fail: trying to import the movies from my phone, it can’t find a suitable plugin for ARM (expected) and then there is no way to get the clip imported without sound (which is what I wanted) because of the missing audio codec…
How can the new Pitivi be installed on Intrepid? I’m tre curious.
