GNOME Journal needs your help. In my latest article in the last issue, I called for help in terms of needing more regular article writers. This time, I’m asking for help in terms of pre-production work, namely issue release management and procedures. It’s been very difficult getting issues out lately and articles have sat waiting to be released for a while. This needs to change as a change here would more than likely help increase the general energy surrounding the GNOME Journal. Please, if you’re organized and want to help out in a very easy and tangible way to the GNOME community, this is your chance!

I thought I’d write a little bit about how many hits we’ve been getting on the GNOME Journal website. We started keeping track of page view statistics starting mid-February of 2006. The stats have been nothing short of jaw-dropping.
- In March, GJ received 257,656 unique visitors for the entire month. That’s 8,311 average daily visitors. That is phenominal.
- Also in March, GJ received 753,532 page hits.
It’ll be interesting to see how much traffic we continue to get on the GJ website and to see how these numbers change. You can publicly view GJ’s stats at this location.
So let me say a big thank you to everyone who is a faithful reader of the GNOME Journal. We hope to continue to bring you fresh content related to the excellent GNOME desktop and its surrounding community. The GNOME Journal is written completely by volunteers in their free time from all around the world. If you would like to get involved in writing for the GNOME Journal, go to the GJ website and click on the “Contribute” tab.
