In Linux Magazine, Conduit Is

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

So for the rest of the month, a slight mention of Conduit will be on the front page of Linux Magazine, in its “this month” blurb. Yay, if only they linked to our site! I think the current issue is out now, so i’m going to pop in WH Smiths at dinner and see if I can pick up a copy :-)
In other news, i’ve upgraded a few things on this box. Will be a miracle if I haven’t broken it :-(

Upgrades…

Just switched to lighttpd. Apparently it’s meant to be faster and a bit more lightweight than Apache. I was a bit hesitant, but having seen the results… wow. I could be imagining it but it seems lightning-fast.. So far i’ve not found any regressions in my blog, but i’m not sure how well i’ll be able to use subversion on here now.

My next site related thing has got to be the tag cloud, I have a backlog of posts that need tagging already…

New hosting

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Both my website and mail server and in flux at the moment.

I’ve just moved my blog over to my new host, expect a few rough edges as i’ve taken the opportunity to upgrade to Wordpress 2.1.3 too. My next missions including trialling out a switch to lighttpd (as i here it’s quite nippy) and fixing my tag cloud.

I’m now getting my mail off imap, which means that my laptop, webmail and phone are pretty much in step with each other for the first time. I’ve actually just installed Squirrelmail. Very simple, i’d love some Ajax candy, but it’s a good interface. The installation was insanely easy….

sudo apt-get install squirrelmail

Then I just linked /usr/share/squirrelmail to the right apache folder!

Next mail server mission is to go over the anti-spam defences, as more is sneaking through than I would like!
