Blame mode for gitg

So these days I was a bit tired of documenting my final degree project and I started to work a little on gitg. For those who don’t know what is gitg, gitg is a git repository viewer for GNOME. I really love this project and I contributed some time before too.

This time I decided to provide the blame mode which in ready in my github. Here is the screenshot, I hope you will like it:

One thing that instantly strikes me is that the blame mode shows the git commit hash, whereas the timeline doesn’t.

It could make it hard to relate a change in he blame mode to a commit in the changelog timeline. :-/

I agree with the comments on Picasa about too many nested tabs – in particular, the ‘source’ and ‘blame’ tabs are show exactly the same thing, save that the latter provides extra information.

Should ‘blame’ perhaps be something that can be toggled on/off within the source view, maybe a checkbox at the bottom to enable/disable it? Or if the performance cost isn’t too bad, should it just always be on when viewing the source view?

Yeah, we are thinking on it. The notebook was definitely a quick way to show it. A check button or a toggle button is one of the possibilities we are thinking on.
