Honestly, my experience with the browser has been wonderful. It runs flawlessly. I only started to have problems like lag, after I installed some extensions. Even after "uninstalling" them, the problems were not fixed.

I had to completely rm -rf .mozilla in my home directory and then everything was perfect again. Give it a try, you might be surprised.

Hmm, I used angle brackets to specify the keys and it seems the blog ate them.

Anyway, the post is supposed to read:
"Then hit Ctrl-Chr while you’re typing".

Thomas: sorry, I did not quite get your advice. I am choosing Russian layout - but pressing '-' (the second key on the left from Return) does not change anything. Also, pressing and holding the button just creates a line of Russian characters;)

You can quick switch between Russian and English layouts for the keyboard.

In the control panel, first select the Russian keyboard layout. Then hit - while you're typing to toggle between the Latin/Cyrillic modes of the keyboard. You can also insert single Latin/Cyrillic characters by holding and pressing the key you want.

Michael: I am already thinking about downgrade. It seems the previous version was somewhat more stable.

I am using both apps. Mostly Map - since it has cool 3D view and some database of useful objects.

I just got my 810 yesterday. It came with v. 1.2007.42-19 of OS2008 and I haven't installed any extra browser plugins. So far, I haven't seen a crash, which is very pleasant, because the OS2007HE version I was running on my 770 would crash like crazy.

I wonder if it's worth doing a backup and installing the latest (or one level back) OS image?

WRT GPS, I can't get a fix inside my house, but if I go a few blocks away, it seems OK.

Now a question for you: which Map software have you chosen? Maemo-mapper is nice and free, but Map seems a bit more complete in some respects.

Maybe you should think about Privoxy insted AdBlock, to kill banners and ads?
