I agree with thos, we need more good graphics by default with GNOME, not more themes.
gnome-look.org serves as a great repro for all the other stuff.

Mathias, I think you missed the part where I said this was a shift in direction for art.gnome.org. The "themeing community" which you are alluding too is already well served by other websites. I don't see any point in replicating this service unless we can add some substantial value over the current offerings. My idea was to primarily focus on helping artists and designers contribute to the GNOME community, and secondly provide a gallery of the best themes and artwork to complement GNOME.

Good idea to create a portal dedicated to GNOME art, although I wonder if the currently presented information wouldn't rather belong to some page on library.gnome.org...

I fully agree with Wouter: Themes and background images currently are impossible to find. The currently layout looks promises a site for technical documentation. It doesn't look like there'd be any artwork available from this site.

I also wonder how to submit themes, the site doesn't look like it'd support upload of user themes. Are there any plans for reactivating that feature. I'd assume that if the goal of that site is to reach new contributors, then the barriers for new contributions should be as low as possible. Allowing users to contribute themes easily is a good way to get users involved. Much fun, much reputation, low risk. Therefore barriers for submitting themes should be as low as possible.

It took me a little while to notice that there is actually artwork available from the site. The homepage makes it look like it is a site for people who want to get involved in the art team. The artwork itself should get a far more prominent place than just two tabs in a corner of the screen. Also the category selection pages look very empty, I think it would be a good idea to show an example for each category, that makes it a lot easier to understand what e.g. controls means.

I like very much the new design :). Now that this part is finished, what about localization? It would be great to see this page available languages, as this would bring more and more artists to create GNOME Art stuff.
