		<description>This is weird.&lt;p/&gt;Since xdg-open does, if one of the three desktop environments is detected, only call the above mentioned launchers, it is hard to explain why it would show such a different behavior.&lt;p/&gt;Did you test xdg-open within a desktop session or just running a simple window manager (in which case the default would be using $BROWSER and behavior would depend on the browsers listed there)</description>
