It won't share accounts with pidgin. If you install tp-haze (and profiles) you will be able to create a new account in Empathy using tp-haze backend. It's just a way to avoid reimplementing a new ConnectionManager for all protocols libpurple already supports.

Telepathy-haze sound cool, but concretely how will that work ? If I have already set-up some accounts with other connectionmanagers, will they be migrated to telepathy-haze or not ? Will telepathy-haze retrieve my accounts set-up with pidgin ? Or does that mean I can run pidgin an empathy together, and they'll happily share the connection ?
I've found http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/Telepathy but it's a bit short on details.
