		<description>The screensaver API on Linux is a mess.

I think the idea behind allowing you to unblank but not to disable is that if your app crashes after disabling the screen saver, it may not have a chance to properly re-enable it before dying.  IOW you're supposed to set up a background timer and unblank the screen every 30 seconds while a movie is playing.</description>

		<description>For the log on the console I've in my MPlayer config a "really-quite=yes" line, but it can be used as an option on the command line (-really-quite) or can be controlled with an environment variable (MPLAYER_VERBOSE).

For the other gripe, I'm not sure it's what you want as you say "screen blanking" so maybe it's not related to screensavers (maybe Xorg DPMS settings), anyway for the old Xscreensaver (I don't use the Gnome one) I've a "stop-xscreensaver=1" line, again in my config.</description>
