Facebook spam

1:37 pm General

Twice this morning…

OMG this is amazing…. ever wanted to know who looks at your profile the most? to find out all you have to do is re post this to everyone on your friends list then press alt+f4 together then it should re-direct you to a status screen where it shows

For those who don’t know what Alt-F4 does, don’t do it. I think this has clinched it – the Funwall has to go, and it’s another nail in Facebook’s coffin.

To be fair to Facebook, this is more of a “chain letter/e-mail” sort of thing as opposed to actual, automated spam. It’s not possibly to prevent people from being idiots and any service that relies on the general public for content is going to suffer from such stupidity. For all its faults, Facebook is a damn site better than MySpace.

Yeah, it’s one of those applications that I’ve resolved to never install, because, looking at the contents of my friends’ walls, it will not bring me anything worthwhile. Most of them are just full of the kind of spam you describe, with nothing else of value.

Though I do suggest installing the “is the sun burning?” application!

So it’s a useless chain letter? So what does happen when people reply to the post? Do they actually see a status screen? Wouldn’t it just close your screen? Why would people think it actual works if they know FB’s privacy rules? I just can’t believe so many of my friends are that easily deceived.

  4. Dave Neary Says:

Yup, a useless chain letter, and your friends are idiots. It closes your screen once you’ve forwarded it to your mates.

alt+f4? in Fluxbox, it brings you to the fourth virtual desktop. I tend to skip around in desktop-land (I even try Gnome every now and then… and my current opinion of KDE4 is unprintable) and after I’ve spent a while in Fluxbox and shifted to something else, I find myself cursing every time an application mysteriously disappears from view when I just wanted to shift view….

Ya I got a couple of those. I don’t understand why people are so gullible, sometimes I feel that people would believe/do anything comes to their inboxes.

“Dude, there is no such thing as a dancing carpet!!”
“I just got it in my e-mail, I’ll show you the video!!”

    True story btw….

@Kae: lol, virtual desktop? That is something 95% of the world cannot claim to have 😀

Both facebook and myspace are vulnerable for attack from hackers due to a issue with both social networks image uploaders having breakable code. Read the article below for more information
