So, another week has passed and I still haven’t managed to read all my mail after the christmas break. Been trying to update my translations for the 2.6 release, but it’s been slow going.

Did some good practise bouts on the 9-ball side on saturday and I hope to see results from that tonight 🙂

GNOME 2.4.2 is still on hold waiting for a new gnome-applets release among other things, but I hope to have it finished by the end of the week. Stay tuned…

I’m starting to look forward to GVADEC in Kristiansand, Norway. Hope to see a lot of people there even if it’s a bit out of the way for most of you 🙂

Been trying to reduce the amount of unread messages in my mail store the last few days and it’s hard going. My fedora-list folder has 12k unread messages :-/

Started working on the GNOME 2.4.2 release too and it seems there are enough new releases to justify a release fairly soon.

I’ll try to get a build of the development stuff going too so I can start testing valgrind on it again.

On the personal front I entered a 9-ball tournament on monday and lost two consecutive matches and was out of the tournament. Still pretty happy with my game though. It’s an internal club tournament and there’s a lot of great players there so I can lose without feeling bad 🙂

Next monday is 8-ball and the next after that we do 14-1. I must practise before then I guess…

So, it’s been a month since I updated this so I think it’s about time. I’ve been running valgrind on random stuff in GNOME lately.

So far I’ve gone through

– gnome-applets and some underlying stuff in libpanel-applet gnome-vfs libgnomeui and libbonobo

– gnome-terminal

– gnome-media

– gnome-utils

– file-roller

There’s plenty of leaks left for someone else to hit on so fire up valgrind and start filling up bugzilla with reports and more importantly…PATCHES!

Other than that I went fishing in the mountains a couple of weeks ago and got this nice trout:

My nice catch

Autumn is great 🙂

09 Sep 2003

Went down to play some 9-ball last night and ended up playing a tournament of 14-1 instead and becoming a member of the club. Lost the first match, won the next two, lost the fourth and was out. I will have my revenge some other time 🙂

Been setting up the latest beta of Red Hat Linux lately and I’ve got it to a point where I can run valgrind on the GNOME stuff. Hope to be able to get it slimmed down a bit now, and already trimmed off a 100kb in gucharmap while setting the stuff up.

Release is imminent and I’ve been struggling to get the translations updated too, but it’s just too much. On the bright side I’ve recruited two new translators for bokmÃ¥l/nynorsk so we’re in for more action there from now on I hope.

Toodeloo.

So, GNOME 2.2.2 is definitely going out soon 🙂

The last stopper bug was fixed a couple of days ago by making the sound recorder use an older scheduler in gstreamer. Kudos to Ronald Bultje for fixing it.

Bought myself a DVD player and ten movies the other day so I won’t mind a couple of days of rain this weekend. Looking out the window it seems as if tonight will be DVD day!

The bugsquad has been busy cleaning up bugzilla lately and it seems that we are finally getting the upper hand. Remember – all your boogs are belong to us. We feel certain that victory is at hand. Zarro Boogs baby!

Been slacking here again. I’ll pull my act together I promise.

So what’s the last year been like? 🙂

I’m back to maintiaining the stable GNOME release and I must say that maintaining 2.2.x is a much improved situation from 1.4.x. I also rejoined the release team and I’m looking forward to working with the release rockers again.

I’m only missing a couple of modules now before I’ll call GNOME 2.2.2 ready for mass consumption. I’ll try to get this done before going to GUADEC on friday. Whee! GU4DEC. How time flies. It feels like only yesterday when we were splashing around on a leaking barge in Paris (Perils)? 🙂

Have a good one.

So. People are complaining about the regularity in my diary entries. Hmm. Can’t have that… 🙂

So. What’s new? Bugfixing in GNOME 1.4.x is still happening and I think the last panel crash will have to wait until after 1.4.1 to be squashed. The upside is that we will actually have a 1.4.1 release _before_ 2.0. <Watch this space>

Other than that we’ve had some really good weather in Oslo lately which of course coincided with me having to work overtime to finish specifications for a purchase we’re doing. Anyway, today we finished it, and now I’m leaving work with a smile on my face.

/me wakes up again

…one year has passed since last time – what?!

Well, I quit my job and I’m looking for something new now. It really felt good so I guess it was the right decision. i18n work is progressing as always and I’ve even recruited a few people to help me along. Whee!!

Let’s see if I manage to keep this diary up2date in the future.

Today I’ve done very little besides playing with my son and compiling up a new evolution…
