This weekend was very nice. On friday I played with Paroano Sai Milhó in the Vitória da Conquista carnival. On saturday, I played with . Both shows were diferently nice.

Me and Carol watched three movies in a raining sunday: I, Robot, Heist and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The first one is interesting but not that good. The second has a good story full of turnovers. The third is great! Very exciting! A great work of Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet.

I’m The Skin of Culture by Derrick de Kerckhove (the director of the McLuhan Program in Culture & Technology). He presents interesting thoughts about our “relation” with television and other media. The concepts of psicotechnologies and technopsicology are very interesting too.

I’ve just added the RSS of Paul Graham essays in the RSS agregator. Reading the essay The word “Hacker” it was exciting to see a picture of the garage where Jobs and Wozniak built the Apple computer.

Here are some of the books that I’ll probably buy soon (I hope in the next months…) for my mastering research:

Here are some photos of my graduation cerimony.

On saturday I gave a talk about Hacker Culture at the Hélio Rocha College. My desknode didn’t work and I had to give up from my OO.o slides right on time of the session. Desknotes are terrible. I need to buy a tiny laptop to carry with me anywhere I go.

I found an amazing gnome app to manage book collections. It’s called Alexandria. With Alexandria, you can retrieve book main information by just providing its ISBN number. For this task, It uses some book info providers like Amazon and B&N. It was not translated to brazilian portuguese but now it is! :-) Now I’m the maintainer of the brazilian translation of Alexandria.

I’ve just begun to work on a simple patch to make Gnome System Tools give more than one auth trials. I think I’ll have some more time to work on it from now on.

Yesterday, i watch two great movies: 21 Grams and The Magdalene Sisters. The former brings interesting thoughts about life and human relationships. The second is a real history about three irish women that are forced to live in convent to correct their “sinful” behavior. Paralelly, it brings a picture of the 60’s Irish society.

Reading: Culture and Technology (Murphie and Potts). Interesting analysis of the mutual and dynamic relation among society, culture and technique mainly from the viewpoint of the media technologies.

14h32 pm: I’m here in Assim and I’m a sleepy man! That’s the result of not speeling well for three days…

I had begun to work the GNOME User Guide brazilian portuguese translation but Shaunm warned me that he hasn’t finished it yet. So, I’ll wait for him ‘cos I don’t want to waste my time translating an out of date doc

Here is a cool photo of the samba-funk-rock band I play called Pã (in portuguese). I’m on the drums.

I’ve been reading Leroi-Gourhan, Simondon, Mílton Santos, Heidegger and other for my mastering stuff.

I’ve been working on a lot of boring college tasks from some disciplines (Operating Systems, Artificial Inteligence and Topics on Software Engineering).

I want to graduate as soon as possible!!! I can’t take it anymore! All these classes and works are making me crazy!

Last weekend I didn’t do anything interesting… Next one I’ll go with Carol and her sister to the beach. I’m looking like a finish man (white as the clouds). I definitely need to burn my skin and start to look like a latin person. :-)

My new year party was very cool at Jardim de Alá beach with Carol, her brother and parents. In this month, probably, I won’t have any time for hacking because I’m in the last graduation semester and I need to finish my final project (yes, there’s no webpage yet, I’ll solve it soon!).

Reading:

The Rise of Network Society
(again!) by Manuel Castells,

Liquid Modernity
by Zygmunt Bauman, and

Emergence: The Connected Lives of Ants, Brains, Cities, and Software
by Steven Johnson.

Some days ago, I watched the amazing movie
The Incredibles
. Great graphics and script!

I’m very curious about C# and Mono stuff. Maybe I’ll begin to study something about it as soon as i get some free time.

I haven’t posted in this blog lately but here I go…

I was aproved in the post-graduation program of Communitation College of Federal University of Bahia. The general study field is Communication and Contemporary Cultures. My research project will deal with some free software development communities cultural issues related to post-modenist/information society.

Carol and I, FINALLY, found a apartment! Soon I’ll be taking some pictures of it. It’s small but very cool. We did a party to receive some gifts from family and friends and it was very funny. Here you can see some photos. It has been very nice to have a daily life with Carol beside me.

In the last days I started to work on an APT Cache nautilus view. There are a lot of changes in Nautilus for views because Bonodo if being removed because of performance issues. Jamesh talks about it with more details in his blog. I’m having some troubles in using the libapt-pkg API but I hope I solve them soon.

I’ve ported zenity to use the new GOption API that came with the latest glib versions. Glynn has commited the patch to zenity CVS HEAD.

In the last saturday, Projeto Software Livre Bahia had a meeting to talk about some organization problems we’re having.

Yesterday I played with Paroano Sai Milho at Othon Palace Convention Center in a Ginecology Conference. We had a lot of fun!

I need to focus on my graduation final project besause I have only 3 months to finish implementation and write the dissertation.

In the afternoon, Me and Carol looked, once more, for an apartment with no success.

No time for hacking only for some bug triaging.
