Recipes by mail

Since I last wrote about GNOME recipes, we’ve mainly focused on completing our feature set for 3.24.

Todays 0.12.0 release brings us very close to covering all the goals we’ve set ourselves when we started working on recipes: We have a  fullscreen cooking mode

and recipes and shopping lists can be shared by email

Since the Share button has replaced the Export button, contributing your recipes is now easier too: Just choose the “Contribute” option and send the recipe to the new recipes-list@gnome.org mailing list.

While working on this, it suddenly dawned on my why I may have seen some recipe contributions in bugzilla that where missing attachments: bugzilla has a limit for the sizes of attachments it allows, and recipes with photos may hit this limit.

So, if you’ve tried to contributed a recipe via bugzilla, and ran into this problem, please send your recipe to recipes-list@gnome.org instead.

  1. Hello!
I wanted to install recipes but I’ve got this error:

” Detailed errors from the package manager follow:
    Not found org.gnome.Platform/x86_64/3.22 ”

I can’t understand what does it means, I’m using Workstation (F25). Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. There are some thing I would like to have in a cooking app.
    1. I need a hands free mode, because my hands are always dirty if I’m cooking. Two useful project to look at could be:
    http://eviacam.sourceforge.net/
    https://revealjs.herokuapp.com/#/

    2. For a meal I usually cook more then one thing at the same time. Because of this I need;
    – a shopping list for more then one receipt. (done)
    – some kind of timetable to plan the meal. It should show, that e.g. the dessert needs 3h in the fridge and I should start with it.

    3. Being able to group or reorder the shopping list. (Vegetables are in one corner of the supermarket and dairy products in an other.)

    4. Being able to delete products from the shopping list. (e.g. I usually have salt at home and don’t need to by it for every receipt.)

  3. It would nice it you could split the po files. One for the UI and the for the receipts one. Perhaps even for every receipt one. This would make it possible to only show translated receipts.

“4. Being able to delete products from the shopping list. (e.g. I usually have salt at home and don’t need to by it for every receipt.)”
    works 🙂
