MariaDB in Fedora
February 4, 2013 10:03 pm digitalIt looks like after a 7-0 vote by the Fedora Engineering Steering Comittee, MariaDB will replace MySQL in F19.
No word from the Monty Program crew yet, but congrats to them, especially Colin Charles, and the Fedora community, especially Jaroslav Reznik and Honza Horak.

Sadly, Fedora chose MariaDB for the wrong reasons. I’m not opposed to them wanting to use MariaDB, but they are full of FUD – for example, one of their reasons was that Oracle hides tests, but all the tests are available to distributions – just not to the general public.
Hopefully it works out for them!
