Yeah, Dirk Nowitzki did it, and scored the winning basket in the semifinal against Spain. And today, in the game for the bronze medal, France just ran over Spain, in a very bad game of the Spanish players.
On the final, happy for Eugenia to see Greece win the gold medal, with an incredible performance by the Greek team, and specially by Theodoros Papaloukas.
Yay!

Thanks Rodrigo!
I had to listen to the game on the radio (greek online radio), as I don’t have the sports channels on my cable TV account here in USA (although my mother was quick to call me from Greece after we won ;-).
As I wrote on my blog, I think the best team of the tournament was Slovenia, although Greece played really well in the final. In fact, I think that was their best game so far in the tournament (which is not normal, as stress is higher on any final for the players)… The Greek team is very good on defense, but very, very bad on offense, they don’t have a ‘natural scorer’, like we had in the old days with Nick Gallis (he used to have an average of 30-35 points per game).
Overall, I was kinda expecting Greece to win Germany, as we have good tradition against them. However, I was shocked seeing France winning Spain with 30 points of difference. Although my husband is French, I prefer the fast-paced spanish basketball better than the dull French one. French don’t really care about basketball, it’s a miracle that their teams go as far as they usually go the last few years.
I Love This Game !
