Contacts 0.5 has been released! You can grab it from the brand new pimlico-project website.
Contacts is a small, lightweight addressbook that uses libebook, part of EDS. This is the same library that GNOME Evolution uses, so all contact data that exists in your Evolution addressbook is accessible via Contacts.
Overview of Changes in 0.5 (since 0.4)
- Don’t hide any fields in view mode and sort them by priority
- Display errors on adding/editing contacts (bug 248)
- Fix memory leaks
- Added birthday field (bug 201)
- New icon
- Fix groups list if there are no initial contacts or groups
- Pass the parent window to the about callback (bug 256)
- Fix problems adding the first ever group
- New translations: Norwegian Bokmal, Polish
Great stuff… now when will we see a pimlico mail client? I’m ready to drop the beast that is evolution for this any time now. Do you have something in the works?
Hi Thomas,
currently there aren’t any maemo packages for contacts. While I remeber there used to be some. Will you (or pimlico) provide some again?
Thanks,
Daniel
Hello,
I just saw on the Pimlico website that OpenedHand is preparing some stuff on synchronisation. This is great because sync stuff is more and more needed by Gnome.
But what about a collaboration with Conduit ? http://www.conduit-project.org
It would be great to bless a framework like Conduit that could give a real consistency (user side) and reusability (developer side) on the synchronisation front.
Yahoo for birthday support !
Thanks 🙂
@Michael, I could be mistaken but I believe the idea is for you to use a tinymail based email client such as Modest. I too am looking to use this combination to get rid of Evolution once and for all.
Maybe you could use Claws-Mail which is a lightweight mail client for gnome, the only problem is that it doesn’t use the ESD information as pimlico-projects do.
