Come on now. Where’s the fun in hacking the 770 if we provide you with all the details? If you can’t get root on your own maybe we’ll have to start collecting the devices back as you’re not worthy 😉
One thing to remember about the SDK image is that it’s not the same as in the product. It’ll have the terminal and ssh and other development essentials, but there won’t be any applications. It’s a tradeoff.

Tommi, could you tell a little more about the development stuff on the actual device:
* Is it possible to change from a SDK-maemo to a normal one (and vice versa)?
* If yes, does this imply flashing the whole device?
* How difficult is that?
* Is there a list of included “development essentials” somewhere?
By the way, the newest post on http://blogs.gnome.org/view/tko seems to be “Galeon Rant Rant” (Oct 2nd). Am I missing something, or is there something wrong with your front page?
The only (official) way of installing anything on the product image is the application installer. With the SDK image you can do whatever you please.
When the maemo 1.1 comes out (due next week) it should come with a prebuilt image you can flash on the device just like the software update image you can get from http://nokia.com/support/770 . There should also be scripts available for creating your own images. The release should come with documentation with instructions and a list of things the prebuilt image will contain. I’d expect there to be at least xterm and ssh, some X debugging tools, strace, maybe gdb, etc. You know, useful tools when running stuff on the device.
As for your other question, I’ll just blame newsbruiser; the order of entries is different depending on whether you have the /view -part or not and one of them can’t be configured.
