ssh-contact has a new home

Thanks to fd.org admin, Tollef Fog Heen, SSH-Contact now has a bugzilla (product=”Telepathy” and Component=”ssh-contact”) on bugs.freedesktop.org. The new place for release tarballs is here.

Debian unstable and Ubuntu maverick already has it packaged, Ubuntu lucid users can get it from our telepathy ppa. I don’t know for other distributions, but if you are packager and love ssh-contact, please push it to your favourite distro 😀

  1. hey there just wanted to let you know I had a lot of fun playing with this over the weekend. i did do some slight modifications which I just happened to need at the moment, 1) i added some tunnels by adding -L strings, but then I thought about it and just simply -L’d the actual SSH port, such as to allow further connections like sshfs, and other adhoc tunnels. It seems that after the initial connection, the tunnel is closed to new connections? maybe i wasn’t watching close enough, but it does seem like better security for it to act that way. anyway, really great work, and thank you so much for this!

  2. I still have in my todo list to pass the unknown command options of ssh-contact directly to the ssh client, like that you could be doing all kind of tunneling, etc.
