GUADEC 2024 Call for Participation Extension

We are pleased to announce that we have extended the GUADEC 2024 Call for Participation deadline to March 24th.

This extension is available to anyone submitting a remote presentation or who does not need travel sponsorship to attend in person. Any speakers requesting travel sponsorship from the GNOME Foundation will still need to submit their proposals, along with their sponsorship requests, by the original deadline of February 18th.

We opened the CfP and set an original deadline earlier this year to give speakers who need visas enough time to receive their acceptance and schedule appointments. We understand that in some countries it can take a long time to get a US Visa appointment and we have adjusted our timeline to allow for that. We’d like all speakers who plan to present in person and need a visa to be able to apply as soon as possible.

Additionally, as many have applied for travel sponsorship we would like to know before proceeding with visa appointments if the speaker’s talk has been accepted or not. We have a tight travel budget and this helps us use it efficiently as well as allows us to provide the documents needed for visa applications earlier. However, as many of our contributors are still working on preparing for the GNOME 46 release we hope that this extension will allow them more time to organize and finalize a presentation, BoF, or workshop proposal.

You can find more details about the visa procedures on our website: https://events.gnome.org/event/209/page/362-us-visa-requirements-and-other-information.

If there are additional questions please don’t hesitate to contact us at guadec@gnome.org.
