This document tries to review the status of free fonts for Linux. The fonts under review here are all freely available, although some fall into various licenses and distributed licenses. The fonts mentioned are all Truetype fonts unless otherwise specified. This document also attempts to give hints on how to have nicely rendered Chinese fonts for your Gentoo Linux system with XFree 4.3.0, Fontconfig 2.2, GNOME2 and Mozilla.
