Has anyone got any examples of how to include translator comments in GConf schema files? Thanks.

Use xml comments, like here:
http://git.gnome.org/cgit/gnome-panel/tree/applets/clock/clock.schemas.in
See also http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines/Use%20comments
As for all developers’ translation questions, go to
http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines . Especially the “Use comments” subpage here.
Important note: comment needs to be inside the element for it to be properly picked up by intltool.
