We’re pleased to announce the release of Geary 0.2.2, Yorba’s lightweight email client. Geary organizes your email by conversations rather than threads and offers full HTML composition, attachments, and more. Geary is compatible with Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and most IMAP servers.
Improvements for this release include:
- PLAIN authentication fixed on Yahoo! and other SMTP servers
- geary.desktop file always built and installed
The Geary 0.2.2 tarball is available for download.
See Yorba’s wiki for information on building, running, and contributing to Geary.
Report bugs and feature requests at Yorba’s Redmine server. (You must create an account before adding or modifying tickets there.)
Ubuntu users can also find a version for Precise Pangolin (12.04) on Yorba’s PPA.
Adventurous Ubuntu users may also wish to subscribe to Yorba’s Daily PPA.
I really liked Yorba. I am verry impatient to have Vala 0.17 so I can install it on my fedora.
You might try installing Vala 0.18 from the tarball on the Vala site. You might need to update some of Geary’s other dependencies as well.
I will try and keep you tuned.

Try this. Fedora 17 only at the moment.
This is awsome. Don’t like thunderbird becouse of the bad ui and i do want to have an native app for my mail that has an great ui. And this is just what i want.
Hi!
I discovered Geary thanks to elementaryOS, and I would really love it if I could have some spaces in the mails I write.
Yes, it’s really strange, when I press the spacebar, the char #32 is not added in the mail…
(And yeah, multiple accounts would rocks, but I know it’s planned, but not for now)
A couple of other Elementary users have reported this as well. I’ve ticketed it in our Redmine server at http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/6009 We’ll probably need to reproduce this in-house before we can debug it.
I’m glad to know that the bug is known.
Take your time to create a amaizing software 🙂
A user on Launchpad passed on this tip:
This bug is related to the French-alternative keyboard layout. Changing layout solves the problem.
This is probably similar to the Rhythmbox bug with the same layout:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/221112
Are you using a French-alternative layout? If so, does changing the layout remove the bug?
I just found a translation error in the italian localized version but i don’t know how to report it.. someone may explain it to me?
Two good ways to deal with translation problems: (1) file an issue with our Redmine server (http://redmine.yorba.org/projects/geary/, you’ll need to create an account) or (b) go to our Transifex page and fix it directly (https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/geary/) The second is the best way to contribute to Geary!
First, thanks for this beautiful piece of software. Second, please, make it easier to search emails and gives us more options in terms of font size in composing.
Thanks!
Hi,
Using Geary for a few weeks and it seems fantastic. Small, fast, efficient and friendly =)
I’d liked to know just one thing:
– How can I made Geary memorize my dimensions settings? (When I open it and resize the folders side, the mailing side and the reading side and after closed and opened again, it opens with default dimensions)
Thanks a lot.
Wonderful and clean! Once the plugin architecture is working I’d love a go at a vi-like (or any other) keyboard navigation support 🙂
What would you like to see that’s not offered by Geary’s current keyboard navigation? If there’s something we don’t currently cover, you might consider filing a ticket for it.
It looks a great email client! Does it supports @outlook.com accounts?
If outlook.com supports IMAP, there’s a chance Geary today will work with it. Geary doesn’t support POP3 or Exchange (yet), and we do have problems with certain servers due to authentication or protocol issues. The best way to find out is to install and test Geary!
Hi. Big fan of your email-client and elementaryos.
Hoping for search and multiple-account-unified-inbox features. 🙂 Keep it up and thanks.
Beautiful! I would love to see the send as plain text feature soon, though. Cheers!
Ditto on the unified inbox.
