Geary 0.2.1 released

We’re pleased to announce the release of Geary 0.2.1, Yorba’s lightweight email client.  Geary organizes your email by conversations rather than threads and offers full HTML composition, attachments, and more.  Geary is compatible with Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and most IMAP servers.  It’s written in Vala and features a fully-asynchronous engine for sending and receiving email.

Features and improvements for this release include:

* Save attachments FileChooserDialog now displays network mounts
* Adds support for SMTP PLAIN authentication
* Installs Italian translation (overlooked in 0.2.0)
* Adds three new translations: Czech, Telugu, and Turkish
* Preferences dialog and .desktop file now translated
* Icon and desktop file cache updated after uninstall
* Various translation fixes, including translations not being displayed

The Geary 0.2.1 tarball is available for download.  See Yorba’s wiki for information on building, running, and contributing to Geary.  Report bugs and feature requests at Yorba’s Redmine server.  (You must create an account before adding or modifying tickets there.)

Ubuntu users can also find a version for Precise Pangolin (12.04) on Yorba’s PPA.  Adventurous users may also wish to subscribe to Yorba’s Daily PPA.

gexiv2 0.5.0 released

Good afternoon,

We’re pleased to announce to all of you
A fresh stable version of gexiv2.

As before, we’ve made it with care and affection,
And now, GObject introspection.

And in case it kept you up ’til mornings,
You’ll like the reduced spurious warnings.

Some minor makefile stuff was fixed,
And ‘configure’s perms bug has been nixed.

We think it should help greatly in your hackage,
So please hop on over and download the package.

Shotwell 0.13.0 Released!

Yorba has just released Shotwell Thirteen,
And in so doing, has hopefully made
An already venerable product sheen,
And with the users, helped make the grade.

Among the fixes, enhancements plenty:
Now hide details from who shouldn’t see ’em,
Post photos to Tumblr, share them with many,
Visibly straighten’d, no need to degree ’em.

Thumbnails, once lost, return upon startup,
Picasa logins are more secure now.
Rework’d old dates helps you sort your art up
From early last cent’ry up to here/now.

There’s much more, yes, but for brevity’s sake
It’s unspoken here, and left to enjoy.
The code is now posted; please stop and take,
And for your images, Shotwell, employ.

Getting Shotwell:
* http://www.yorba.org/shotwell/ (tarball and instructions for building from source)
* https://launchpad.net/~yorba/+archive/ppa (Ubuntu Precise Pangolin PPA)
* Ubuntu Quantal Quetzal users should receive this through their OS vendor’s daily update mechanism shortly.

Shotwell 0.12.3 Released!

Good morning, one and all,

It’s with joy and with pride, both in no small degree,
That I get to announce oh-twelve dot three.

Bugs have been squashed and fixes were made,
Therefore, we suggest all users upgrade.

You’ll like this if your camera’s AVCHD,
And tags are safe now in your library,

And with dark images, if ‘enhance’ you smash,
Or zoom using hotkeys, it’ll no longer crash.

We hope this release brings you much joy and cheer;
Please give it a go, get your copy here:

Shotwell 0.12.0 Released!

Good evening, one and all,

It’s my pleasure to announce the release of Shotwell 0.12.0. This version represents several person months of hard work, saw us add our one-hundred-thousandth line of code, involved a quest that took our merry little band of adventurers half way around the world, three new brave warriors joining our party, and the slaying of many, many monsters.  It’s now more stable than ever before, has a neat new straightening tool, and, thanks to the watchful eyes, thorough bug reports and helpful suggestions of you, our userbase, it’s pure awesome (I admit there may be some bias on my part, but still…).

We’re proud of it, and on behalf of the team here, I sincerely hope you enjoy using it.

Cheers,
-c

Download a source tarball from the Shotwell home page at:

Or grab a binary for Ubuntu Oneiric at Yorba’s Launchpad PPA:

Ubuntu Precise will ship with Shotwell 0.12.x pre-installed by default, so Precise users will be upgraded to Shotwell 0.12.0 automatically as part of their regular software update cycle.
