On X11 and the Fascists Maggots

Damn Jordan, what a sad title. I know dear reader, I know…

2 weeks ago I published a blogpost about the upcoming plans of GNOME 49 and the eventual removal of the X11 session. Since then, instead of looking at feedback, bugs and issues related to the topic, we all collectively had to deal with the following, and I am not exaggerating one bit:

• Fascists and Nazis
• Wild Conspiracy Theories that make Qanon jealous
• “Concerned” Trolling about the Accessibility of the Wayland session
• A culture war where Wayland is Gay, and X11 is the glorious past they stole from you

In my wildest dreams I could have never made this shit up. You all need mandatory supervised access to the Internet from now on.

What happened:

On the backdrop of an ongoing and live streamed genocide in Palestine (and apparently WW3 now as well) an apartheid, ethnosupremacist, babykiller apologist clown with a youtube channel (I know that does not narrow it down a lot) decided to take some time off and go back to “linux” reporting. There are plenty more charismatic fascists on youtube that talk about politics in general so I assume its hard to make a living just from that and the talentless hack needed to pivot back to our corner to keep paying rent.

This is nothing new, it has been going for years and nobody pays any attention to the shunned outcast. These kind of people are not even worth our spit. However people, that should know better, were very happy to indulge and uncritically “report” on the latest made-up story that lionizes an actual Nazi and WW2 revisionist, transphobe, “911 truther” nut job, with main character syndrome, whose main claim to fame is being yelled at by Linus for spouting anti-vaxxer rhetoric in the Linux Kernel Mailing List. They were eager to legitimize conspiracy theories, spread further misinformation and amplified harassment campaigns spearheaded by fascist idiots.

Interlude

Initially I was going to talk about the absurdity of this situation and the pathetic existence of people that make their entire personality about the Init System and Display Server their computer is using. But its kinda funny and better for everyone that they ended up in their own little isolated sandbox playing with their new toys. I am sorry life doesn’t have any more meaning for them than this, even they deserve better.

Thus I will leave you only with the original conclusion of the post instead. About all the Fascist Slimes that take advantage and radicalize people solely for clicks.

Conclusion

To all you wanna be Influencers, Content-Creators, Youtubers, Bloggers and Freeloading Leeches. If you are harboring fascist maggots for clicks, views and your personal gain, you are worse than them in my eyes. You have no excuse, there is no bothsidesing fascism, you can’t say you didn’t know, we’ve been all screaming about it. You deserve each other and to spend your life surrounded by the filth you promote and legitimize. I hope you all will take a look in the mirror one day and try to atone for your sins and the damage you cause to the society.

If nothing else, do this for selfish reasons, as we’d all rather keep writing software that you can “talk” about, rather than having to deal with the fascist trash you cultivate and send our ways.

On behalf of all the desktop developers I have to state the following:

There is no place for Fascists within the Open Source and Free Software communities or the society at large. You will never fester your poisonous roots here. Go back to the cave you crawled out from where no sunlight can reach.
