Ohio Linux Fest

I didn’t make it last year, but I heard it was a blast. So I wouldn’t dream of missing the Ohio Linux Fest this year. It is Sept. 29th in Columbus, Ohio.

Kevin Harriss is heading up the Foresight booth, which will be surrounded by other desktop related booths. We will have four booths in a big square, called the Linux Desktop Corner including, Foresight, GNOME, Fedora, and Ubuntu Ohio. I even hear Kevin will be sporting a green mohawk, let’s see if he really follows through with that 🙂

I will also be giving a talk about conary/rBuilder on the vendor stage, come say hi!

PackageKit updates, now with groups

PackageKit now has support for filtering by groups, based on the menu. None of the backends actually do anything with them yet, but here is a quick screenshot of what the UI looks like.

PackageKit with a conary backend… yay!

Richard Hughsie has been doing an amazing job on PackageKit, thanks for that! Today I managed to get the first cut of the conary backend committed. Currently only searching is implemented, but we are well on our way to a fully functioning conary backend. Here are some teasers:

Live CD Artwork

Thanks to everyone that submitted artwork for the LiveCD, they were all good. I decided to go with the artwork that was used on the 2.10 LiveCD that Luis had sent me, I just loved the big foot on it 😀

Just ordered 1000 of them to give away at Linux World SF, thanks to rPath for paying the bill on that one.

Check out the new logo

We have been on the hunt for a new Foresight logo for some time, and I am glad to say we have finally chosen one.

Many thanks to Allison for her wonderful work and her patience in working with us on this. And thanks to everyone that helped by either submitting logos, providing feedback, and selection!
