Just published the first Foresight based LiveCD! Very exciting, we have wanted to do this for a long time but it has never really made it to the top of the priority list. I am even more excited that it includes the GNOME 2.18.0 Release Candidate (2.17.92).

There is a new VMware image available with all the locales, and still only 490M… whew… Check it out and let me know what you think… there will likely be several versions between now and GNOME 2.18 release day.

Just finished a 2.17.92 Live VMware image, this is the beginnings of what should be the next official GNOME Live Demos. Please test it out and let me know what you think! The LiveCD will be availble soon as well.

Dell recently opened up an idea forum called Dell Idea Storm. Currently, the most popular request is pre-installed Linux… Although I don’t see Foresight in the list 🙁
What sets Foresight apart from the rest of the fledgling distro pack is the software management framework on which its built. Foresight is one of the most active projects based on rPath’s Conary software management system, which offers administrators a great balance of flexibility and control in deploying and maintaining applications on Linux.

Foresight is only translated as well as the applications included, which in the GNOME world isn’t really that bad. But there is always room for improvement and Foresight maintains quite a few things that haven’t been translated yet, website, wiki, etc.
I am very pleased to see some community members looking to get involved in localization. We now have volunteers for German and Portuguese, as well as a volunteer to organize the initiative.
There is also now an IRC channel on freenode dedication to the translation team, #foresight_i18n
