I guess it is valuable… Today we took a short road trip with the two kids (first time since Drew was born). On the way home we stopped at a Sonic drive in and ate at a picnic table. Close to the tables was a little carousel ride, one of those $0.50 for 30 second things. Of course Ashlyn insisted to ride it, those things are popular. I remembered throwing a fit with my folks wanting to ride them many times. I spent $4 on it in about 5 minutes time, what a racket! She loved it and that made it worth it, but… they must make so much money on those things. Someone can just drive around servicing them and emptying out the quarters and make a nice living… Maybe it is time to leave the Tech industry 😉
New slogan
Well, voting has closed for the Foresight slogan. Amazingly enough, the old slogan I had used (meant to be temporary) won. I didn’t even vote for it, but I do like it.
Because your desktop should be cool!
We have a strong focus on making a Desktop distro that people will love, not just “geek” users but everyone. So, the slogan does fit. Personally I voted for “A product of peace”, which I like because of the project. It is amazing how diverse our team is. We are so spread out around the world, and yet I feel we are very productive. I am proud of of our team, and am please with how things are going. Thanks to everyone, you really make it happen!
First Haircut for Ashlyn
Yesterday we got Ashlyn’s hair cut for the first time. She is 2 1/2 now, her hair was out of control. Laurie had a really tough time agreeing to the cut, but it had to be done. Didn’t cut much, just trimmed the ends. Went to JJ Kids in Cary to get it done, pretty cool place. They have chairs that are things like airplanes, horses, cars, etc… They also have a library of kids videos and TV in front of each chair to keep the kids occupied during the cut. Ashlyn chose Dora the Explorer (of course…) and was an angel during the whole process.
We are busy potty training her this weekend, which requires a ton of patience. Yesterday was hard, even 10 minutes on the potty with little success. Today has been much better. I think it is working! Good job AJ!
Vacation
So far, been a nice visit. The Napa Valley (St. Helena) is so beautiful, I just love visiting. Already had a couple huge parties… and drank some great wine 🙂
We had two primary goals for the visit, High School graduation for Jenna Mae Beltrami (Congrats!) and getting the kids baptised. All went off without a hitch. Also had a big party after the baptisms with like 20 guests and a gradutation party for Jenna with like 50 (exhausting). Like most vacations, it has been very busy and I will surely need a vacation when we return to NC.
Spent a ton of time in the pool, Ashlyn is old enough to have an opinion about the water… and she LOVES it! She just doesn’t want to get out… spends hours in the pool (with me holding on to her) and just refuses to get out. She was even shivering from the cold… and said “I’m no cold” 🙂

Natural language wiki
Gil and Thom have done a great job on the wiki. Gil can up with the idea of a natural language wiki, something that navigates the way people think. Thom has worked hard to implement Gil’s ideas today. It is really coming together nicely. Thanks for the hard work guys! You can see it at http://wiki.foresightlinux.com.
I also put together a Planet today to aggregate blogs for Foresight contributors. All contributors that want to be on the planet, please send me your hacker head and link for the rss/atom feed. Check it out at http://planet.foresightlinux.com
Beagle 0.0.10, without dbus!
Beagle 0.0.10 available in conary, without the need for dbus. I love dbus, but it has been such a pain with beagle… So I am glad now we can update independantly… The new beagle really works great! Great work!
Now we can update hal and dbus to the latest and maybe even try out GNOME Power Manager.
Duke Gardens
I love Duke Gardens! Had a great little picnic there today, the weather was great. The Roses are blooming, so if you live in the area, I recommend a visit now!
Ashlyn had a real blast.
Tot Lot
This morning out community hosted a “Play day at the Tot lot”. We had a blast, weather was great… and met a ton of our neighbors with kids. Nice folks…
Our community play ground is so great, Ashlyn just loves it. The problem is she would never leave. So when it is time to go, it is always a battle followed by a tantrum. Glad she likes it!
