GSimon is coming!

March 15th, 2008 by brunobol

gsimon-screenshot

I’ve worked in a game called gsimon, a Simon clone for GNOME. It’s my first code using Cairo and I hope will be the fist project of many others.

I’ll code some educational software/games and propose to add a “gnome-edu” module in GNOME. GNOME needs educational stuff.

What do you think about it?

Yet about custom widgets with Cairo

March 11th, 2008 by brunobol

Dear lazyweb,

Thanks for all who gave me tips about my previous post. Now, I have another issue:

GSimon screenshot

That’s a cairo widget with four paths. Is there a way to treat each path individually?

Thanks again!

Custom widgets with Cairo.

Dear lazyweb:

Is there a way to create a custom widget with Cairo so that it is “clickable” only in the painted area?

e.g.: capture the mouse click only in the white area.

Accounts for Membership Committee

March 5th, 2008 by brunobol

Dear Accounts Team / Sysadmin members,

As a new member of the GNOME Foundation Membership Committee, I’d like to ask your help about some tickets of accounts’ queue. We need you to process the tickets #4068, #4069 (by Luciana) and #4354 (by Fernando). Luciana and Fernando can’t do the Membership Committee work without their accounts. Maybe some (or all) tickets already been processed, so we need password reset for them.

Also, I’d like to be part of Accounts Team too. If it’s possible, what I need to do?

Thanks a lot!!!

Bugsquad wiki pages remake

February 8th, 2008 by brunobol

Dear Bugsquaders,

Looking at these two messages on the Bugsquad mail list, I think it’s time to work on a rewrite (or a little organization) of the Bugsquad pages on the GNOME Wiki.

We need suggestions which can be sent just replying those messages. Also, we need volunteers to do that work.

Let’s make the Bugsquad rock more and more!

Dark GNOME (definitive)

November 29th, 2007 by brunobol

Dark GNOME

HOWTO:

It’s Clearlooks based and I’m using Tango icon theme.

Feel free to mail me (subject: “DARK GNOME”). I’ll send you the theme file (tar.gz) and the user-stylesheet.css (to make browsing easier).

user-stylesheet.css

Dark GNOME

Also, if you´re using Ubuntu, change the notification theme to GNOME default:

~$ gconftool -s --type=string /apps/notification-daemon/theme standard

or just change the key value using gconf-editor.

That’s all!

Dear GNOMErs:

Can I have a “http://www.gnome.org/~brunobol” space to keep some files?

Back to GNOME Foot.

November 27th, 2007 by brunobol

Dear Ubuntu developers,

Please!!! Give us back the GNOME foot into the GNOME default icon theme. I’m not asking you to change the Human theme, just to keep the GNOME theme with the foot! Please! :)

Vincent, Wouter, Jakub: About Dark Themes, I made my choice:

  • Darklooks((gnome-themes-extras)) (I changed the blue color of the selected items for #99B0C6);
  • Tango icon theme (great contrast);
  • That wallpaper.

Dear Lazyweb,

Is there a way to not change things in browser (Epiphany) when using dark themes? UPDATE: I want to keep anything as using a light theme.

Making a black GNOME

November 26th, 2007 by brunobol

Hello!
As I have many comments on my previous post, I’ll try to explain how to make a good black theme:

1. Choose a beautiful and simple wallpaper:

My wallpaper

2. Choose a beautiful theme, and change its colors:

bruno@reginaldo:~$ cat .themes/GNOME\ Black/index.theme
[Desktop Entry]
Name=GNOME Black
Type=X-GNOME-Metatheme
Comment=
Encoding=UTF-8
[X-GNOME-Metatheme]
GtkTheme=Glossy
MetacityTheme=Glossy
IconTheme=gnome
GtkColorScheme=fg_color:#fffff46eea13,bg_color:#444444444343,text_color:#ffffffffffff,base_color:#54a554a554a5,selected_fg_color:#ffffffffffff,selected_bg_color:#1ad71ad71ad7,tooltip_fg_color:#000000000000,tooltip_bg_color:#fffff1f1bebe
CursorTheme=default
CursorSize=18

3. Finally, pick up a complete and simple icon theme. I suggest GNOME default or Tango icon theme.

Dear lazyweb,

How can I post pure HTML on Wordpress? I’ve been tried many ways, but WP always fill my post with <br> , &lt and &gt. Drivel give me an error message when I have links into the post.

I’m changing to black.

Foundation elections: let’s start the debate!

November 19th, 2007 by brunobol

As a new member of Membership Committee, I have the pleasure to announce the set of questions for the GNOME Foundation Board candidates. Let’s go!

  1. How much impact would being a member of the GNOME Foundation Board have on your current contributions to GNOME?
  2. Online Desktop and Services are being talked about as the next large step in GNOME – what is your vision for Online Desktop and Services and how would you measure them?
  3. What are the SMART goals that you desire to set for yourself should you be elected to the Board?
  4. If you were part of the GNOME Board last year and a candidate again, what would you like to put as your achievements as a Board member?
    Or,
    If you are a candidate for the first time, what are the areas that you think you can do better?
  5. Do you think it is important to mentor and coach potential leaders in the GNOME community? If yes, what do you think the role of the Board be in this task? If no, what are your thoughts on this?
  6. Some of the tasks of a Board Member are mundane administrative tasks, are you comfortable taking on such tasks as opposed to being always involved in strategic and visionary thinking?
  7. What or which according to you, is the one “tipping point” move for GNOME in the coming year?
  8. What do you think is the most important item on the Board’s agenda right now? What will you do more or better than the previous boards in that aspect?
  9. What is your positioning with respect to the issue of OOXML?
  10. Why do you think we need a GNOME Foundation?

I hope we’ll have a great debate!

UPDATE: these questions can be found at foundation-list too.
