Nokia making it complicated

As Maemo 5 (Fremantle) gets closer I’m worried about

And the code of some modules in SVN is totally outdated though the recent code is available anyway in the Fremantle SDK releases.
Pushing this to SVN should take less than hour but some managers obviously don’t recognize that there are developers out there interested in the platform. Which is a pity.

Heh, you should be happy that you find out about all this before the final release at all! :-)

Heh, I am. But that’s only half of the work if you want to get out a nice product, the other half is to care about it…

Brother Andre you are singing my sad song. While I worked with Nokia I was increasingly frustrated with the (low) level of community engagement. Although people like Quim and Peter get open source, Nokia as a corporate entity is still struggling on the razor wire between open and closed.

I had high hopes based on some developments but I am not convinced that the Maemo team has the resources, independence and executive support needed to make the OS successful.
