Ta-da ! Come on, where is the code ? The suspense is killing me ! :D

I’m doing a make distcheck now, and smoketesting the merge. :-)

  3. What advantages does the applet have in comparison to using deskbar-applet for a gnome-dictionary lookup?

  4. zefram says:

reinout: for one, deskbar isn’t in the desktop release while the dictionary applet is. :-)

the deskbar applet uses the web api to get the words definitions; I’d like to make a python binding of libgdict and have the deskbar applet use that, as it could really access a whole lot of dictionary sources with various transport methods.

that said, i don’t use the applet that much (as I really don’t have much panel real estate to spare for it), but I see nothing bad in sharing a bit of functionality; after all, the deskbar applet does way more than looking word definitions.
