  • Peter Tyser added to Meld the ability to check if version control repository are valid.
  • Christian Persch ported libgconf-2 to GDbus, this makes libgconf-2 not link to libdbus anymore, which means libgconf-2 is LGPL2+ again. (GNOME bug 618039)
  • Tor-björn Claesson made it possible to register new search providers for the GNOME Shell dash.
  • Paul Cutler added Mallard snippets to the gedit snippets plugin.
  • Also in the Mallard vicinity Claude Paroz updated Damned Lies to display a special icon next to documentation in the Mallard format.
  • Håkon Enger added support for Mac OS VNC authentifcation to gtk-vnc.
  • The Murrine engine got support for theming new widgets: GtkIconView and GtkInfoBar.
  • Jiří Techet changed the double click behaviour of libchamplain, it will now zoom and center to the clicked area. (GNOME bug 605784)
  • Support for importing ODF graphs into Gnumeric continues to improve thanks to Andreas J. Guelzow. (GNOME bug 626961 for example)
  • Carlos Garcia Campos merged his port of gnome-applets to the new libpanel-applet API.
  • Nicolas Dufresne work on proxy support in GLib has been merged.
  • Empathy new “linking contacts” dialog continues to be improved; also it is now possible to disable logging. (GNOME bug 567858)
  • Nate Stedman added support for embedding PDF documents in Ease.
  • Summer of Code has ended, there is a summary of all projects, the snippets manager plugin written by Dragos Dena has been merged in Anjuta, and a few last updates were posted, Salomon Sicket on TaskView, Pēteris Krišjānis on recording VoIP in Jokosher, and Matt Novenstern who worked on the Message Tray.

  • Emmanuele Bassi added JsonReader, a simple, cursor-based API for parsing a JSON DOM, to json-glib.
  • Christian Persch created a gdbus branch of gconf, porting it to gdbus; in the same vein David Zeuthen ported PolicyKit-gnome from dbus-glib to gdbus.
  • As for GDK changes, Thomas Hindoe Paaboel Andersen started porting gnome-games, Benjamin Otte pushed a cairo-port branch onto gnome-mag, and ported parts of Nautilus, and The Gimp continued being ported to Cairo by Michael Natterer.
  • Empathy has been changed by Bilal Akhtar to use GimpNet as default IRC network. (GNOME bug 625675)
  • Martin Pitt ported gdm to UPower. (GNOME bug 626176)
  • An initial implementation of the “background” panel has been pushed to gnome-control-center.
  • Andreas J. Guelzow added exporting of images to ODF in Gnumeric.
  • Preview comments have been added to most of the effects provided by gnome-video-effects (now used by Cheese).
  • A new “Shuffle” action has been added on the Banshee play queue.
  • Ryan Lortie added signals to GApplication, they are: startup, activate, open, action, and command-line.
  • Support for common licenses has been added to GTK+, this introduces a :license-type property. (GNOME bug 336225)
  • Also in GTK+ Matthias Clasen beefed up the GTK 2 -> 3 migration guide, including a first cut at documenting the rendering cleanup changes and the region removal.
  • For their last week of Summer of Code, Dena Dragos added a basic import/export feature to Anjuta snippets, Adrien Bustany added a function to load resources filtering on their attributes to his tracker ORM, Alexander Saprykin got his chapters plugin merged in Totem (GNOME bug 622779), and more.

  • Florent Thévenet added support for user preferences to solang, using gsettings.
  • libunique and gtkmm have both been ported to GTK+ 3.0.
  • Fabio Bonelli removed libbonobo from Galeon, it uses D-Bus now.
  • In pygi John Palmieri wrapped the GObject module, making it compatible with both the ancient pygobject attributes and new attributes exposed by introspection.
  • Roberto Majadas added initial support for ConsoleKit in nanny.
  • The dependency on libgnome-vfs has been removed from f-spot, it now uses GIO.
  • The class inheritance graph in anjuta has been switched to use cairo, instead of straight gdk draw.
  • Christian Persch ported Evince and GConf to GDBus.
  • Fridrich Strba pushed an initial implementation to have evolution as default mail client and mailto handler under Windows.
  • Introspection support has been added for the libnautilus-extension library.
  • GEdit unique instance mechanism has been switched from bacon to DBus.
  • In GNOME Shell Colin Walters implemented the initial application menu.
  • Last but not least Matthias Clasen merged GDBus in glib.

Issue 80

  • The Hamster project got separated in client and d-bus service, and got a command line client (GNOME bug 602642).
  • Behdad Esfahbod pushed a gnome-terminal branch with a find dialog to highlight search terms. (GNOME bug 78963).
  • Much work happened in the asm-support branch of nemiver.
  • This was the week of the gsettings hackfest, many changes landed in both glib and gconf modules, you should read the day 1 summary by Vincent Untz and overall summary by Matthias Clasen.
  • During that hackfest baobab (in gnome-utils) has also been ported to gsettings, with explanative commit messages, and the devhelp branch has been updated for the API changes.
  • There was also a GNOME Python hackfest and much work happened in pygobject and pygi, go read posts written by John Palmieri: day 0, day 1, day 2, and wrapup.
  • Tadej Borovšak ported sound juicer to GtkBuilder, this was the last module using libglade, yeah.
  • Torsten Schönfeld started adding GIO support to the Perl binding, via gobject-introspection.
  • Support for application-indicators/StatusNotifierIcon has been added to the typing break applet in gnome-control-center (GNOME bug 606671)
  • Evolution got a new foocanvas branch, getting rid of libgnomecanvas.
  • A new SSH Hosts plugin written by Fabian Carlström has been added to kupfer.
  • Joanmarie Diggs added improved support for Empathy in orca. (GNOME bug 589925)

  • Martin Szulecki added detection of the ipad to gvfs AFC backend (GNOME bug 615039).
  • Rhythmbox has been updated to use webkit to display HTML episode descriptions of podcasts. (GNOME bug 320507)
  • Flickr authentication code has been unified in gthumb, removing duplicated code.
  • In Rygel Andreas Henriksson added basic support for serving subtitles in Samsung custom DIDL-Lite and HTTP extensions. (GNOME bug 606305)
  • The Totem Youtube plugin has been fixed to work again with latest youtube.com pages changes. (GNOME bug 614679)
  • Tomas Bzatek changed the GTK+ file chooser so that it initializes search engines on demand. (GNOME bug 614971)
  • Banshee for Meego saw another major panel UI overhaul, to reflect the latest Meego look and feel, and better organize some of the features.
  • Ray Strode added support for relocatable .gnome2 directory to both gnome-games (GNOME bug 613634) and yelp (GNOME bug 614029), this is done via the GNOME22_USER_DIR environment variable.
  • Joanmarie Diggs added to Orca support for the detection of mispelled words in OpenOffice.org. (GNOME bug 364772)
  • libsoup has been updated with a fix for proxies that close the connection after returning a 407 error code (Proxy Authentication Required) on a CONNECT request.
  • Florian Müllner added introspection support to gconf (GNOME bug 613247)
  • Philip Withnall improved cancellation support in libgdata, it is now using libsoup message cancellation functionality, rather than checking for cancellation ourselves at arbitrary points during operations.
  • GNOME Shell support for IM notifications has been moved to use Telepathy. (GNOME bug 608999)

  • Nautilus has been changed to inhibit gnome-power-manager when copying files (GNOME bug 334806).
  • Simon van der Linden landed much of his summer of code work on pybank (using gobject-introspection to create dynamic Python bindings to gobject libraries) in the gsco2009 branch.
  • GConf has removed its libgnome dependency (which was casued by a test client) (GNOME bug 586435), and was ported to the PolicyKit 1.0 API (GNOME bug 585303).
  • Benjamin Otte ported byzanz (screencast tool) from gnome-vfs to gio, and from gdk to cairo.
  • Thanks to a change in libgweather it is now possible to add an UTC time entry to the clock applet. (GNOME bug 541145)
  • Jean Bréfort added a new cairo-based canvas to goffice, to be used in Gnumeric, to replace foocanvas.
  • Every little part of gnome-panel has been ported to GtkBuilder.
  • The gvfs gphoto2 backend and monitor were ported to gudev.
  • Most of the C++ bindings were transitioned to a new build infrastructure, using the new mm-common module.
  • In Yelp Shaun McCance added the possibility for ghelp: URIs to reference Mallard documents.
  • And an all-new Mallard documentation, mostly written by Milo Casagrande and Phil Bull, has been merged into Empathy.
  • Dan Winship ported SoupAddress to use GResolver, new in the latest GLib.
  • Finally Matthew Barnes added support for “Fifth Sunday *of the month*” to Evolution (in his kill-bonobo branch) (and it also works for other weekdays!) (GNOME bug 328361).

  • gedit got an internal message bus to let its plugins communicate.
  • Epiphany updated from its own EphySearchEntry and EphyIconEntry to GtkEntry, it also uses the new “progress in entry” support to draw progress in the location bar.
  • gconftool got a new –toggle option, to toggle a boolean key.
  • gossip removed libgnomeui and libgnomevfs, and started to use libcanberra-gtk for sound support.
  • Jonathan Matthew added some basic window management effects to gnome-shell. (GNOME bug 563844)
  • A new version of l10n.gnome.org (damned-lies) went live, merging in the Vertimus translation tool that was already used by some teams. (announce).
  • A low diskspace checker has been added to the housekeeping plugin of gnome-settings-daemon. (GNOME bug 557647)
  • gnome-build that was a standalone module but only used by anjuta has been merged in anjuta.
  • GtkEntry Caps Lock warning mode switched to using an icon.
  • seed got a 0.3 (and 0.3.1) release and Robert Carr sent a summary of what happened since 0.1.
